Making My Week

1. Mindy Kaling's Book: can't put it down.. and going to see her this Wednesday!
2. She & Him Christmas Album: on repeat.. is it too early to start listening to Christmas music?
3/4. Bruno Mars: how have I not noticed how attractive he is?
5. Turban Hat: I scored one of these a few months ago, and have been wearing it non-stop.. Shameless hipster move on my part...
6. Smith's Rosebud Salve: along with the cold weather comes unsightly chapped lips- my only salvation.
7. Overpriced Starbucks Holiday Drinks: five bucks for a grande, but I crave them in epic proportions.
8. Chunky Sweater: I'm still looking for the perfect one- suggestions?
9. Black Opaque Tights: salvaging my shorts from summer by adding these basics is not only thrifty, but adorable.
10. Pine-Scented Candles: another holiday staple- it's as if I have a tree in my apartment..

1. I didn't really catch the stacked gold jewelry trend until recently when I got a chunky gold watch. I like the juxtaposition of delicate bangles with heavy chains, allowing basics (skinny jeans, turtleneck, etc) some flair. I've always loved big rings, especially on my pointer finger. These would all suffice.
2. Oxfords: Yeah, I had a pair two years ago when they first became trendy again, and never wore them. I'm willing to give them a go around with tights, full skirts and a sweater. Maybe even those high socks. Zooey Deschanel ain't go nothin on me.
3. I have been wanting an envelope clutch for the LONGEST TIME and now for fall, leopard seems more than appropriate. American Apparel has some cute ones, but I'm looking for one with a big more pizazz- any suggestions?
4. Knee High Socks: always a favorite. They're perfect with boots, but I've gotten a little bit more adventurous and worn them with my brown booties. How do you style yours?
5. I finally need to wear a scarf in LA! I'm WAY too excited about it. Banana Republic always has the best ones, plus the quality of them is superb.
6. Mac's Ruby Woo Lipstick: Since dying my hair auburn, I've been really into wearing darker makeup. This is my go to red- it stays on all day, is a perfect matte substance and looks great on fair skin.
7. Jeffery Campbell T Strap Wedges: Kinda pricey, but I think I'm willing to dish out the cash for a pair of these pretties. Dresses, skirts, maybe even cut off jeans if I'm feeling sassy? Super versatile, plus I've heard they're actually kind of comfortable.
8. Essie Forrest Green Polish: Essie hands down makes the best polish. It lasts, shines and comes in the best shades. As a newfound ginger, I'm embracing green with open arms.

Apartment Therapy

I recently moved into a new apartment, and now that I have complete control of it, there are so many design options I want to explore. A leather couch, modern lamp and poufs add a bit of sophistication, while the Jonathan Adler pillows and rug add a dash of quirk. I need a new duvet and shower curtain and I've found that the Urban Outfitter companies (Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters) always have the best selection. Plus they're significantly more affordable than places like Crate and Barrel or Z Gallerie. The only things missing are my beloved Voluspa candles, a turntable for some sounds and an old school Nintendo for game nights. C'est Voila!

Making My Week

Last week I snatched a pair of J Brand's "Eve" high-wasted jeans for a pretty little 15 bucks. If you live in LA, check out places like Crossroads and Wasteland for great barely used designer jeans, vintage t's and bags. I sold some clothes and then reimbursed myself with the jeans. I had to have them altered, but I still wear them with my chunky heels, a silk blouse and blown out hair. Using Rachel Zoe, Farrah Fawcett and Jane Birkin as inspirations, this week has been filled with gold jewelry, feathery hair and aviators. I don't have internet at my new apartment yet, so I've been watching a lot of Gossip Girl and Sex and the City (guilty pleasures, no need for judgement). For anyone who is a fan of Winehouse, Adele, or Fitzgerald, check out a pretty little lady, Melody Gardot. She has a great voice, cute style and impeccable song writing ability. As a bonus, let me provide you with some of my favorite picture of Boo the dog.

Hot Cheetos & High Waisted Shorts

1. Urban Outfitters School Satchel: My southern mother always told me the only way to buy bags, shoes or belts is if they're leather. I alway abide by her rule, but when you're pinching pennies sometimes pleather is gonna have to to the trick.
2. Anthropologie Gingham button up: I've been wearing my blue J. Crew one a lot with a maxi skirt and hoop earrings to balance out the cuteness, but I like this green one for fall.
3. Number Two Pencils: I usually write with pens, but when they sell these bad boys for a quarter at Target I can't resist.
4. The Artists Way by Julia Cameron: Besides my Buddhist journey, I've also started this one. Every morning you write three, free thought pages in a journal. It frees your mind and also lets you process your dreams.
5. I'd Rather Be Sleeping print: Sums up my laziness in a cute, whimsical print.
6. Leopard Skinny Belt: When fall comes, I love mixing prints: especially animal and plaid. This belt would look awesome with some high waisted shorts and a blouse.
7. High Waisted Shorts: Cheap and universally flattering. Add a cardigan and some wedges and you're good to go!
8. Anthropologie Blouse: I love this print! 'Nough said.
9. Vanilla Coke: Perfect with those hot Cheetos, or just on a warm day. I shouldn't drink soda, but if I am, it's gonna be that.
10. Essie in Palmetto Green: Perfect for fall on toes and fingers.
11. Journaling: Besides the cheap pencils, Target sells the cutest school supplies. I'm not in school but I still buy them. Too good to pass up.
12. Hot Cheetos: My best friend turned me onto them but they're only good with a coke or some other sweet drink. Super trashy, but I will buy them once in a while when I'm binge eating, feeling really good about myself to just wanna lay awake with heartburn.
13. Corinne Bailey Rae's "The Love EP:" Some cute covers and an original. I love her version of Prince's, "I Wanna Be Your Lover."

Making My Week

1. Simon Doonan's book, Eccentric Glamour. Influences include Amy Sedaris, Edie Sedgwick and Debbie Harry.
2. Sweet Potato Fries. I'm addicted and that's okay, because all I've been wearing lately are my leggings. And sometimes even as pants.
3. She & Him Volume Two. Zooey is cute and M. Ward is awesome. I prefer Volume One, but In The Sun is a fun, summery track.
4. My mom bought me this YSL perfume for Christmas and I'm taking advantage of it by ridding of my coffee and sweet potato smell.
5. Audrey sleep mask. I've been using this all week to pretend I'm glamorous when tossing and turning. And also to hide from my mirrors that are beside my bed.
6. Jill Scott's new album. Pretty good, but nothing gets better than Volume One. Very produced and more hip-hop.
7. Starbuckz Iced Coffee with a pump of peppermint. This will have to suffice until they get pumpkin back in.
8. Horchata. My boyfriend is Mexican and introduced me. I'm really into it because it's not as bad as soda. Probably not. I still drink it.
9.  Davines shampoo. Worth the extra money. All organic ingredients and it smells like you wanna actually put on real clothes and do your hair.
10. Dionne Bromfield's new album. Amy Winehouse's protege and niece. Adorable, great sound and amazing voice.
11. Buddha. Nuf Said.
12. Benetint. I put this on my lips when I wanna feel sassy.
13. Leggings. My daily/nightly/morning wear.
14. Strangers with Candy starring Stephen Colbert, Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello. I can't get enough and it's all on Netflix instant. Rejoice!

I Can't Get Enough

1. Marc By Marc Jacobs Script Ring: chunky enough to wear alone- epsicailly on your pointer finger
2. Sally Hansen Nail Effects: Same thing as professional Minx nails but only for 8 bucks. Stay weary of trashy prints.
3. North Carolina necklace via Nordstrom: Enough said.
4. Seersucker High Waisted Shorts via American Apparel: Perfection in a pretty fabric
5. Voluspa Candle in Ebony & Peach: Sultry, especially when paired with a heating pad and solitaire.
6. Cotton Candy Maker: I should've have to justify this.
7. Hot Tools Curling Iron: Yeah, it gets to 400 degrees, and it's awesome.
8. Michael Kors Leg Shine: Smells great, looks shiny and makes your cellulite semi-disappear.
9. Rice Krispy Treats: Favorite snack, and the blue wrapper looks great peaking out of my purse.
10. Amy Winehouse Frank: I need this on Vinyl. If only it wasn't 35 dollars.
11. Avett Brothers I and Love and You: Also need this on Vinyl. If only I wasn't broke.
12. Benefits Brow Zings: Makes my blonde eyebrows look like I haven't been on meth.
13. Tina Fey's Bossypants: If you're a woman read this. If you're a comedian read this. If you want to feel good about yourself read this then get off your arse.
14. Monin's Gingerbread Syrup: Sorry, peppermint this stuff tastes like graham crackers and cinnamon.
15. Fred Flare's USB Record Player: I want this. If I wasn't broke.
